Wow-in what was thought to be a closely contest clash between a pair of SOC II teams, the South Webster Jeeps easily outdistanced the visiting West Senators by a 79-28 score, behind an absolutely suffocating defensive performance.  Both teams are full of athletic upperclassmen, but Brenton Cole’s squad ended the game with a fusillade of 28 points in the fourth quarter while holding West to only five.

Brayden Bockway stretched the floor in the first, nailing a pair of trifectas, as did sophomore Tanner Voiers, giving the Jeeps the start they needed in grabbing a 16-8 lead. Jacob Ruth and Shiloah Blevins scored 2 points apiece in the period. West countered with buckets from Dylan Bradford, Josh Berry, Jesse Johnson and Nick Davis.

The second quarter hurt the Senators, as Johnson sank a three and Luke Howard hit from the line, representing all of West’s points. South Webster continued to fire on all cylinders, as Blevins hit two field goals, a three and a pair of free throws off a West technical, totaling 9 points. Bockway continued to bomb away, dropping another pair of trips, with Voiers connecting for his third of the first half, as Webster took a commanding, 34-12 lead at intermission.

Samuel Holstein continued the Jeeps success from the arc, hitting a three and adding a bucket, with teammate Blevins scoring 4 from in close and Bockway, Voiers and Jacob Ruth all striking for 2 points. The Senators nearly matched their points for the first half in the frame, scoring 11, with Bradford, Berry, Davis and Brennan Bauer scoring from inside the arc. Going into the fourth, Webster’s lead grew to 51-23.

Even with Blevins, Bockway and Voiers on the bench for the last quarter, Webster went wild, as Levi Murphy and Andrew Smith rolled through the West defense for 7 points each. Dawson Veach and Gabe Ruth both added 5 points to their night, with Trae Zimmerman calling down the Jeeps ninth triple of the game and Zack Keller hitting one of two free throws. West’s offense came from field goals by Dillyn Cole and Luke Howard, plus a charity toss by Noah Coleman.

The Jeeps enjoyed a stellar offensive effort, led by Blevins 15, Bockway’s 14 and Voiers 11 points. Murphy and Smith were next in line with 7, followed by 6 from Jacob Ruth, 5 from Gabe Ruth, Holstein and Veach. 3 by Zimmerman and 1 from Keller closed out the South Webster scoring.

West’s Johnson took team-high honors with 7 points, as Davis, Bradford and Berry all added 4. Bauer and Howard chipped in with 3 apiece, while Coe and Coleman totaled 2 and 1.
