Janet Castle
Janet Castle of Lucasville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at River Run of Franklin Furnace on January 9, 2026. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family above all else.
She was born to the late Wallace and Lillian Crull on May 15, 1938 in Portsmouth. Janet was preceded by her beloved husband, Robert Castle, and her son, Robert Castle Jr.; sisters Bettie Glanton, Emily Hileman, Inez Charles, Patty Ober, Anna King, and Helen Royal; and infant brother Wallace Samuel Crull.
Janet is survived by her son, Dan (Deb) Castle; her granddaughters, Morgan Castle and Samantha Yelley (Jason) ; as well as Amanda (Wirty) Penix, Nicole Mitchell Andrea Mitchell and Ben Mitchell, all of whom she loved dearly. She also leaves behind her precious great-grandchildren, Adler Marazzi, Ario Marazzi, Madelyn Penix, Evelyn Penix and Nova Mitchell, who brought her endless joy; and her sisters Kay Trogdon, Gail Picklesimer, Judy Morrison, and Mary Crull.
She had a true passion for crafting and quilting, finding comfort and happiness in creating handmade treasures for those she loved. Many of her quilts will continue to wrap her family in warmth and serve as lasting reminders of her care and creativity.
Janet was also a proud and dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star , where she valued fellowship, and faith, forming lasting friendships throughout her years of membership. Janet will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family. Her warmth and presence will be deeply missed but forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of River Run of Franklin Furnace for their loving care for Janet.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, January 30, 2026 at the McKinley Funeral Home, with Ed Litteral officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Friends may call from 11:00 am until the services at the funeral home.
