Gary Dale Hoffer

Gary Dale Hoffer, 65, of McDermott, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at SOMC Hospice following an illness.

Gary was born June 8, 1960, to Irene Hoffer Newberry in Adams County, Ohio. Gary was raised by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hoffer of Otway. Gary had a long-standing special relationship with girlfriend, Kris Shaw, and guardian, Rita Frye.

Gary graduated from Happy Hearts in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was a well-loved member of Scioto Residential Services, Inc., since June 1978. He is survived by his friends and family of SRS and OUR Place Adult Day Services, where he will be greatly missed.

Gary loved NASCAR, Elvis, Spider-Man, Super-Man, wrestling, collecting memorabilia, and yard sales. He was a generous friend who enjoyed participating in special events and activities with others, often spending his own money to ensure that friends and housemates could go on outings or participate.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville with Rev. John Gowdy officiating. Burial will follow in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call from 11 am until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
