Phyllis Leona Strickland

Phyllis Leona Strickland, 95, of Lucasville, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth.

She was born November 10, 1929 in Beaver, Ohio, a daughter of the late Ralph Dykes and Dorothy Combs Dykes Gilliland. Phyllis was a retired laborer and homemaker and was of the Baptist Faith. She was a loyal member of the SOMC Silver Sneakers.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Vernon Strickland in 2003; and a brother, Ralph “Buddy” Dykes.

She is survived by her son, David (Linda) Strickland of Lucasville; a daughter, Barbara Spinelli of Englewood; three grandchildren, Shelly Owens, Michael Strickland, and Anitra Spinelli; and eight grandchildren.

At her request, there will be no services. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Scioto Burial Park at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the McKinley Funeral Home.
