Eloise grew up in Wamsley, was a 1949 Jefferson High School-Blue Creek graduate, and a 1950 Portsmouth Interstate Business College graduate. She joined the Alpha Iota Sorority, having been sponsored by Leo and Julia Blackburn, and she remained heavily involved in the group for many years. Her first job was as secretary for a construction company in Portsmouth, then a secretary at the former A-Plant in Piketon. Eloise then worked 33 years at the Social Security office in Portsmouth, from which she retired.

In addition to her parents, Eloise was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Doddridge Sr., on September 9, 2019. They had been married for 64 years. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, James P. “Buddy” Branham Jr. and Edwin Neary; and by two sisters, Bonnie Hawkins and Phyllis Presslor.

She is survived by her son, Stanley Doddridge Jr. of Lucasville; her granddaughters, Lexie Doddridge and Crystal Stone; and her two great-grandsons, Alex and Brice Stone. Eloise is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews, in addition to many dear friends.

Eloise was dedicated to supporting her son’s ballgames, both when he played and when he coached. She was laundry mom for the uniforms for Portsmouth American Legion Post 23 baseball team and later was always there for Lexie and Crystal’s games. She loved sports and was a huge Cincinnati Reds, Ohio State Buckeyes, and University of Kentucky Wildcats fan, and she cherished her granddaughters.

The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for their loving care of Eloise in her final years.
