Rebecca Marie Ratliff

Rebecca Marie Ratliff, 63, of Portsmouth, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at SOMC. She was born on November 2, 1960, in Ironton, the daughter of the late Walter Andrew and Faye Hackworth Destocki, Sr.

Becky married Charles Stephen “Steve” Ratliff in Franklin Furnace on July 15, 1983. The couple had been married for 27 years at the time of Steve’s death on November 11, 2010.

Becky was a 1978 graduate of Ironton High School and she received a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Ohio University. She worked as a night auditor for the former Days Inn in Wheelersburg. Becky was a fierce lifelong Democrat, for which she volunteered and worked as the office manager for the Scioto County Democratic Party. The party elected her to attend one of the 2016 Presidential Debates.

Becky was also a very talented seamstress and needleworker, having learned from her mother. She enjoyed embroidery, cross stitch, and was a noted jewelry maker. A true artist, she was a published author and avid reader. She also wrote Fanfic, stories based on characters in online games and other media, including Space 1999 and Transformers. Becky also loved all things military as well as her beloved cats.

Surviving is her brother and sister-in-law, Walter Andrew ‘Andy’ & Debbie Destocki Jr. of Lancaster; a niece and nephew, Devon Destocki and Andrew James Destocki; and her best friend and caregiver, Lin Barrett of Portsmouth.

A Memorial Service was held at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Dennis Dawes, Minister, officiating. Interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery.

The family requests donations in Becky’s memory be made to Sierra’s Haven for New and Used Pets, 80 Easter Dr. Portsmouth, OH 45662.
