Myrtle Malindia “Sandy” Hanes

Myrtle Malindia “Sandy” Hanes, 91, of Waverly, Ohio passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at her home.  She was born December 2, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Richard and Ann Kroll Burroughs.  On February 14, 1950 she was united in marriage to Jack Rodger Hanes Sr. who preceded her in death on February 17, 2016.  Surviving are her children, Jack (Marilyn Kay) Rodger Hanes, Jr. of Lancaster, Ohio, Nancy (Timothy) McClain of Whitehall, Ohio, Richard (Helen) Hanes of Waverly, Ohio, Malindia (Mike) Moore or Beaver, Ohio and Lisa Cornell (Troy Clagg) of Columbus, Ohio; 23 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Karen Stevens of Bozeman, Montana.  In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, David G. Hanes; daughters, Becky Hanes and Jana Riggs; a grandson, Joey Swindells; and brothers, Ferdinand Scurlock, Richard Burroughs and Kenny Burroughs.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Adena Hospice and caregiver, Brittany Jobe.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2024 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastor Brian Baer officiating.  Burial will follow in Beaver Union Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
