Roy Adrial “Joe” VanDyke
Roy Adrial “Joe” VanDyke, 97 of Ashville, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Wyngate Senior Living Community in Circleville. He was born on July 27, 1925 in Camp, Ohio to the late Jacob VanDyke and Louise Ratliff VanDyke. He was united in marriage to Thelma Williams VanDyke who preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Genevie Duke Perdue VanDyke who preceded him in death on February 22, 2011. Surviving are a brother, Lincus VanDyke of Arizona; a sister, Pearl Faye Franklin of Ohio; step son, Leon (Candy) Perdue of Piketon; stepdaughter, Kathy (Tom) Newman and family of Peebles, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wives, Joe was preceded in death by sisters, Grace Chancey, Minnie Merritt, Gladys Legg and Lydia Edna; and brothers, Earl VanDyke and General Elmer “Pete” VanDyke.
Joe proudly served his country in the US Navy.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Jill Barch officiating. Burial will follow in Howard Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Merritt Post #142 of Waverly. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
