Michael Lee Chandler

Michael Lee Chandler, 78, of Portsmouth, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026, at SOMC. He was born on March 22, 1948, in Portsmouth, the son of the late Dewey William and Gladys Evelyn Horton Chandler.

Michael graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1967 and earned an Associate degree in Business Management from Shawnee State University. He previously worked as a menswear manager at Marting’s Department Store and later retired from Glatfelter after 22 years of service. Michael enjoyed watching Ohio State Buckeyes football and westerns on television. He was also a car enthusiast who loved spending time with his family.

Michael is survived by his wife of 40 years, Gail Ann Greenhill Chandler, whom he married on May 12, 1986, in Wheelersburg.

Also surviving are three sons, Robert Lee (Sandy) Chandler of South Portsmouth, KY, Michael David (Debbie) Chandler of Twin Valley, and Jonathan Ray Chandler of Portsmouth; a daughter,  Christine Renee Gladys Chandler of West Union; eight grandchildren, Nathan Chandler, Shalyn Phillips, Madison Phillips, Tristia Taylor, and Natasha, Aiden, Noah and Parker Chandler; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.

Michael was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Nikki Wright and Josh Chandler; and two brothers, Robert Chandler and Eugene Chandler.

Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Dennis Dawes, Minister.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home.
