Robert Jay Varner

Robert Jay Varner, 82, of Piketon, Ohio passed away May 28, 2023 at Adena Pike Medical Center.  He was born June 17, 1940 in Hancock County, Ohio to the late Manford Jeremiah and Imo Kagy Varner.  On January 20, 1974 he was united in marriage to Elvania Colleen Varner who preceded in death on December 17, 2020.  Surviving are his children, Joni (Kelly) Mustard of Piketon, Edward (Teresa) Christian of Chillicothe, Shaun (Sahara) Cassidy of California, Cathy (Ted) Hammonds of Lucasville and Lula (Daniel) Cassidy-Benedum of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren, Ryan (Valerie), Matthew, Derek, Heather, Olivia, Justin and Josh; and a sister, Martha (Jim) Lemley of McComb, Ohio.  In addition to his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Varner; a sister, Mary Ann Varner; half-brother, Gerald Sterrett and a half-sister, Grace Arrington.

Robert was a retired truck driver and a member of the Moose Lodge #2263.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2023 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastor David Stulley officiating.  Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
