Joyce M. Dean

Joyce M. Dean, 75, of Jackson, passed away Tuesday May 30, 2023 at her residence. She was born April 18, 1948 in Vinton, a daughter of the late Stephen and Esta Spires Queen.

She was a graduate of South Eastern Business College with an Associate Degree in Applied Business. She was a soft spoken lady who was sweet to everyone. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother.

She enjoyed crocheting, painting by numbers, reading and listening to gospel music. She was formerly a part of the Queen Family Gospel Quartet who traveled and sang at churches in the area.

Joyce is survived by two daughters, Lisa (Layton) Rhoden of Lucasville and Kim (Allen) Hunley of Jackson; her former husband and friend, James Dean of Ashville: brothers, John (Nancy) Queen of Galveston, TX, Mike (Gayle) Queen of Meridian, MS and Sherwin (Linda) Queen of Quitman, MS; sisters, Suzy (Tony) Sandlin of Peebles and Linda (Bill) Eichenlaub of Otway; grandchildren, Abby, Emma, Kaytlyn, Kiana (Eric), Ethan, Ryan and four great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, Charles and Stephen Queen, a sister Juanita Anderson and her beloved cat Charlie.

Funeral Services will be 12:00 p.m. (Noon) Thursday, June 8, 2023 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME (Wolfe-Nelson Chapel) in Sciotoville.  Interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery.  Friends may call Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. (Noon) at the funeral home.
