Gilbert “Gib” Brewster

Gilbert “Gib” Brewster, 83 of Jasper, Ohio went to be the Lord on Saturday, May 27, 2023.  He was born on December 22, 1939 in South Solon, Ohio to the late James and Georgia Pearl (Leslie) Brewster.  He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Brewster; two daughters, Rebecca Brewster and Lori (Jeff) Veach; six grandchildren, Jonathan Seeber, Kiernan (Aliah) Veach, Kameron Veach, Kiara Veach, Cory (Kristin) Veach and Samantha (Matt) Groves; two great grandchildren, Gracie Groves and Grayson Groves; one sister, Kathy Swift and several nieces and nephews including special niece Tammy Brewster.  In addition to his parents, Gib was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Dorothy Lucas, brothers, James “Tookle” Brewster, Jerry Brewster and Don Brewster and a sister, Mary Perrou.

Gib was a lifetime farmer and attended Bethel Chapel CCCU.  He was the former janitor at Jasper School, owner of Brewster’s Ashland Station, the former Pike County Dog Warden, a Newton Township Trustee and was considered the honorary mayor of Jasper.  He loved his small community and the people in it.  He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastors Larry Moore and Dave Pinkerton officiating. Burial will follow in Leslie Cemetery on Long Fork Road in Piketon.  Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
