Patricia (Pat) A. King

Patricia (Pat) A. King, 82, of The Villages, Florida was called to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 29th, 2023, and is now resting in eternal peace.

Pat was born May 9th, 1940, in Grafton, West Virginia, to the late Victor and Opal Haller. She later moved to Sciotoville, Ohio where she attended East High School and met her soulmate, Gary Lee King. While in high school, they went steady and were voted “cutest couple” thus beginning the start of their love story. They graduated high school in May of 1958 and were married on October 17, 1959.Their journey led them to Romeoville, IL where they raised six beautiful children. After 40 years, they returned to their “beloved home” in Lucasville, Ohio, enjoying their retirement years together and venturing to Florida every winter to escape the cold and spending time with their family and friends in Ohio. Following Gary’s passing in 2007, Pat retired full time to The Villages, Florida where she would spend the remainder of her golden years. While residing in the The Villages, Pat remained loyal to her favorite sports team, The Ohio State Buckeyes. You would find Pat at home every Saturday watching her favorite football team.

In the years to follow, Pat met some of her best friends. She spent her time playing cards, bunko, going to movies, playing games (and winning!!), and sharing many meals and memorable times with all of them. Most recently, she ventured on cruises with her close and dear friends, (Carol, Becky, and Sandy). She would spend a month in July and a month in December, visiting her family in both Ohio and Illinois. Pat always liked to stay busy, and it was often commented on in thebest of ways, just how hard it was to keep up with her! However as busy as she was, she always was available for her family when they came to visit her in Florida. Her family (kids, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends) were all in attendance for her 75th party, held at the Waterfront Inn, in Lake Sumter. She had two of the absolute best Fur-Babies (Sami and Luci) who were loyally by her side at all times. The list is endless for what she will be remembered for- but her family will agree that nothing tops her infamous Chicken and Dumplings and Christmas Cookies.

Pat is preceded in death by “the love of her life” Gary Lee King, her parents, Victor, and Opal (McDonald) Haller, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and in-laws. She is survived by her six children: one daughter, LeAnne Hubbs (Steven), The Villages, Florida, and five sons: Doug King (Judy), Anthony King (Ann), Kevin King (Trish), of Romeoville, Illinois, Greg King (Sierra), Michigan and Randy King (Shawn), Bolingbrook Illinois. She is survived by her beloved fur baby, Luci who will continue to live the retirement life in The Villages. She, “mamaw” is survived by eighteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren, who she was extremely proud of and was fortunate to be a part of so much of their lives. She is survived by her two wonderful sisters, Freda Bailey (late Robert Bailey), Peggy King (Roger), and wonderful brother, Clyde Haller (Nancy), along with numerous nieces and nephews. Two special and cherished friends also survive her, Pennie Whitt, who has been her dearest friend since 1966, and resided in The Villages as her dearest Neighbor, and Sandy Geist, who was her very dear friend from The Villages, along with many friends she made while enjoying life in The Villages.

Friends and Families are welcome to join us for a Celebration of Life on Saturday May 6th, 10:30 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME (WOLFE –  NELSON CHAPEL), Gallia Street, Sciotoville. Pastor Robert McKinney, Grace Baptist Church, Minford, will be the officiant. Following the services, Pat will be reunited with Gary at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Franklin Furnace.
