Mildred E. Messmer
Mildred E. Messmer, age 96, only child of John William and Martha L. Trende Messmer was born August 22nd, 1926. After graduating from Holy Redeemer High School, she was employed at the Williams Manufacturing Company in Payroll and later, after many years, retired from St. Monica Church as secretary. Mildred was a member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia, the Ladies Guild, RSVP, Meals on Wheels and the Golden Bears. She was a lifelong member of Holy Redeemer Church and later joked that she was now a ‘Roaming’ Catholic due to the Mass schedules. Above all, she loved God, relatives, friends and enemies. She also had a love for all God’s beautiful handiwork on earth including plants, flowers, and animals, especially the cat family. She enjoyed gardening tomatoes and roses, music, including country western and oldies, her handiwork of crocheting, and watching good movies on TV. Always eager to be with people and experience life, she enjoyed attending shows, musical events, and travelled whenever she could. She is lovingly remembered and will be missed by 2nd cousins and many friends who were her helping hands and go-to for second opinions on many topics.
