Carolyn Ann Lynch

Carolyn Ann Lynch, 90, of Portsmouth, passed away Monday, April 3, 2023, at Hill View Health Care. She was born November 15, 1932, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late John Dent and Lillian E. Wilson Rowson.

Following her 1950 graduation from Portsmouth High School, Carolyn worked at the Portsmouth office of Standard Oil Company. When the company moved their offices to Cleveland, she began working for the Portsmouth Daily Times. She then became a licensed Property and Casualty Insurance agent and worked at the Portsmouth Insurance Company until her retirement. She and her husband attended Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and Carolyn enjoyed her time playing cards with The Crazy Bridge Club.

On November 11, 1958, Carolyn married Thomas Francis Lynch in Portsmouth. They were married for 62 years at the time of Tom’s death on January 7, 2021.

Surviving is her sister, Sue (Charles “C.B.”) Herrmann of Portsmouth; her “special children”- nieces, Jodi (Thomas) Ruppelli, Julie (John) Voorhies, Andrea (Matthew) Schneider, Carrie (Jason) McMahon and Erica (Jason) Layne; great nieces and nephews, Jordyn and Jake Ruppelli, Brandon and Connor Voorhies, Abigail and Andrew Schneider, Chase and Ella McMahon and Caleb and Grant Layne.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Carolyn was also preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, John D. & Judy (Cook) Rowson Jr.
