Nelda Jo Maggard Francis

Nelda Jo Maggard Francis, 68, of Beaver, Ohio formerly of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, passed from this life at home surrounded by her family after a courageous 4 ½ year battle against ovarian cancer.  She was born February 14, 1955 in Edmonson County, Kentucky to the late Robert and Neal Tarter.  In December 2003 she was united in marriage to James Francis who survives.  In November 1973 she was united in marriage to the late Alonzo Maggard.  Surviving are their children, Lonzo and Tina Maggard of Waverly, Chris and Melody Thompson of Waverly, Robert and Whitney Maggard of Louisville, Kentucky and Darrell and Mindy Helton of Beaver, Ohio; sixteen grandchildren, Brennon, Allison and Madison Maggard, Bailey, Kallie and Lucas Helton, Koleton Penwell, Riley and Seth Thompson, Alex and Bryan Robinson, McKenna and Ethan Brooker, Maddie and Cooper Maggard, Ethan Bolt and Taylor Francis; four great grandchildren, Brexley and Anders Robinson, Kaiden Leeth and Knox Thompson; two brothers, Chuck and Vickie Tarter of Springfield, Missouri and Wade Tarter of Elizabethtown, Kentucky and a sister, Judy and Phillip Garcia of Elizabethtown, Kentucky.  In addition to her parents, Nelda was proceeded in death by a daughter, Maria “Poggie” Maggard, two sisters, Betty Flanagan and Sandra Cyfris and two brothers, Ed Tarter and Roger Tarter.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home with Karen Morris officiating.  Burial will follow in Beaver Union Cemetery.  Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
