Betty Loucille McNamara
Betty Loucille McNamara, 82, of Tipp City, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023, at SpringMeade Health Center. She was born December 8, 1940, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late General Tayler and Mary Ora Bloomfield Cooper.
Betty attended Portsmouth Baptist Church when living in the area and she went to Portsmouth West Schools. She started both the Community Services for the Deaf at SOMC, where she worked from 1984-2005, and the Deaf Studies program at Shawnee State University. She was proud to be the first nationally certified interpreter in Ohio. Betty loved God, her family and she especially enjoyed going on cruises with her sisters where they enjoyed the casinos.
Her husband, David Gordon McNamara, preceded her in death July 5, 2002 after 45 years of marriage. The couple married in Lawrenceburg, IN on April 20, 1957.
Surviving are her children, Timothy G. (Carlene) McNamara of Troy, David Jeffrey McNamara of Portsmouth, Kimberly Ann McNamara of Columbus and Tamara Kay (Chaz) Link of Glenford; two brothers, Gary (Cinda) Cooper of Owensboro, KY and Donald (Carol) Cooper of Lucasville; two sisters, Alma Wolfe of McDermott and Vickie Bell of Wheelersburg; nine grandchildren, Michelle Wray, Crystal (Austin) Polley, Hailey McNamara, Leshia McNamara, T.J. (Sammy) McNamara, Kelly McNamara, Elaina McNamara, Luke Link and Wyatt Link; six great-grandchildren, Austin & Madison Wray, Emma Polley, Harley & Charlie McNamara and John Collins; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by two siblings, Earl Bloomfield and Anna Baker; and a grandson, Matthew Redoutey.
Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Saturday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Oscar Perry officiating and interment in Greenlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
