Aleta Kay Murphy

Aleta Kay Murphy, 72, of McDermott, passed away Monday, March 20, 2024, at her residence.

She was born November 5, 1950 in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Loren and Irene Phipps Howard.

Aleta was a homemaker and a former employee of Edgewood Manor.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Terry Murphy, February 11, 2013; two brothers, Ron and Roger Howard; and five sisters, Shirley, Nancy, Donna Jean, Leigh Ann, and Ethel.

Aleta is survived by two daughters, Joetta Howard of Louisville, KY and Terri Lynn (Jeremy) Pennington of Rainsville, AL; one son, Franklin Terry Murphy Jr. of McDermott; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Howard of Gahanna and Sonny Howard of Pickerington; and one sister, Carol Hines of Lancaster.

Private graveside services will be held in Big Run Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville.
