Avonelle Fankell

Avonelle Fankell, 97, of Wheelersburg, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 10, 2023 at her home. She was born February 19, 1926, in Scioto Furnace, Ohio, to the late Oral Burton and Rosa (Bishop) Burton.

Avonelle married the love of her life, Raymond Fankell, January 29, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland and was married 62 years until Raymond’s passing in 2007. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Oral Burton Jr; her sons, Paul Adams and Raymond Fankell Jr.; and an infant daughter, Rebecca Fankell.

As a homemaker, her greatest joy was caring for and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, as well as her beloved dogs. She was the heart and soul of her family and will be sadly missed by all.

Avonelle is survived by her children, Phillip Adams, Jean Fankell and Jeri Fankell; daughter-in-law, Kathy Adams Fankell; nine grandchildren Tina (Nathan Sims) Adams, Andy (Amy) Conn, Amy Rase, Tammy (John) Tallerico Tang, Emilee (Dan) Weakly, Taryn Tallerico, John Fankell, Kristin (Duane) Thacker and Stefanie Fankell; ten great-grandchildren, Alyssa (Bret) Dillow, Cassidy Rase, Andrew (Abby) Conn, Cayley (Brian) Collins, Chloe Rase, Cooper, Carson and Cade Weakly, Max Hetrick and Ethan Tang; and two great-great grandchildren, Hadlee and Reid Dillow.

A service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, Ohio with Chaplain Jason Coriell officiating. Interment will follow in Scioto Furnace Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family one hour before the 1:00 p.m. service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
