Marvin Keith Rawlins
Marvin Keith Rawlins, 72, of New Boston, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2026, at SOMC. He was born on November 2, 1953, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Alva Edward and Hazel Louise Miller Rawlins.
Marvin graduated from South Webster High School in 1971 and later served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Sharpshooter Badge (M-16 Rifle). He worked as a drywaller and foreman for Asplundh for many years. In his retirement, he travelled, played poker, and spent time with his friends at the New Boston Eagles Aerie #2271. He enjoyed following the OSU Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns, and he had played in the local Men’s Softball Leagues in his younger days. He also loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s events.
Marvin’s long-time companion, Pamela G. Madden, passed away on March 30, 2026.
Surviving are his children, Robert “Rob” James (Crystal) Rawlins of Chillicothe, Jodi Ellen (Michael) Dickerson of Portsmouth, and Nichole Mullins of Jackson; Pam Madden’s daughter, Mindy Ratcliff of Delaware, OH; four grandchildren, Alex Dickerson, Madison Rawlins, Olivia Dickerson, and Isabella Rawlins; two great-grandchildren, Princeton Dickerson and Noah DuBose; and four siblings, Lee Rawlins and Ronnie Rawlins, both of South Webster, Joy Ferrell of Wheelersburg, and Jean Eldridge of South Webster.
Marvin was also preceded in death by six siblings, Herman and Billy Rawlins, Annabelle Lands, Lorraine Strickland, Lola Ferrell and Peggy Rawlins.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 4 to 6 P.M. at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth. The James Dickey Post #23 American Legion Honor Guard will provide military rites at 6 P.M.
The flag of the U.S. Army will fly at the funeral home in honor of Mr. Rawlins’ service to our country.
Marvin gave the gift of life through organ donation.
