Ronald Shawn Sexton
Ronald Shawn Sexton, 62, of Portsmouth, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born April 13, 1960, in Portsmouth, a son of Melissa Ellen Manning Dillon, who survives, and the late Ronald Ray Sexton.
Shawn was a 1978 Portsmouth High School graduate and gifted athlete. He ran track, played football and participated in other sports while in school. Shortly after graduation, an accident left him paralyzed, but Sean was a fighter and never quit setting and achieving goals. He attended Wright State University where he studied Sociology for two years. Upon returning home, he coached area ball teams and was a friend to everyone and, in return, was well-loved by all. A huge OSU Buckeyes fan, he enjoyed watching sports on television. He also had a special beagle whom he enjoyed hooking to his wheelchair and zooming around town with when he was able. Shawn had an amazing attitude and a great sense of humor and he loved to tease his mother and other friends who visited with him.
Shawn was blessed to live with his mother and stepfather, Melissa Ellen (Manning) & Daniel “Matt” Dillon, who took great care of him, giving him a long and happy life.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by siblings, William Robert Sexton and Laura Lee Sexton.
