Sharon Kay (Chamberlin) Hughes

Sharon Kay (Chamberlin) Hughes, 78, went to her Heavenly home on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at her home. She was born in Wheelersburg, OH, on November 29, 1944, to the late Roy and Marjorie Weaver Chamberlin. Sharon was a 1963 graduate of South Webster High School in South Webster, Ohio. She was a former employee of the Williams Shoe Factory in Portsmouth, Ohio before marrying Charles Hughes, the love of her life, and becoming a dedicated, very loving homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed spending as much time with her family and grandchildren as she could, faithfully attending every family gathering, game, and musical show that she could. She was also a faithful member of the Porter Free Will Baptist Church, where she will be deeply missed by her church family.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Donald “Gene” Chamberlin, her sister Barbara (Chamberlin) Staten. Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Charles Dee Hughes of Wheelersburg, her sister Shirley (Chamberlin) Smith of South Webster, her sister Wanda “Faye” (Chamberlin) Ashley of Chillicothe, her sons Kevin (Jennifer) Hughes of Wheelersburg and Seth (Santana) Hughes of Ashland, Kentucky, three grandchildren, Nicole and Nathan Hughes of Wheelersburg and Silas Hughes of Ashland, Kentucky.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, January 12, 2023 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in Wheelersburg with Pastor Mark Price officiating. Interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 5 to 7 PM and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.
