Raymond Fankell, Jr

Raymond Fankell, Jr., 66, of Wheelersburg, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at SOMC in Portsmouth. Raymond was born January 14, 1955 in Portsmouth, Ohio to Avonelle Burton Fankell and the late Raymond Fankell, Sr. Raymond graduated cum laude in 1978 from the Ohio State University School of Pharmacy; he was Board certified in psychiatric pharmacy, and worked at the Portsmouth Receiving Hospital as pharmacist consultant for 16 years, and he was pharmacist owner/operator of Medi-Mart Pharmacy in Portsmouth, Ohio for 30 years.  In addition to his father, Raymond was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Adams.  He is survived by his mother, Avonelle Fankell; his wife, Kathy Adams Fankell, whom he married September 4, 1976 in Portsmouth, Ohio; a son, Raymond John Fankell; two daughters, Kristen Thacker (Duane) and Stefanie Fankell (Danny Sparks); a brother, Phil Adams and two sisters, Jean Fankell, and Jeri Fankell.

Services for Raymond will be 7:00 pm Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday 5:00 pm until the 7:00 pm service time.  Memorial contributions may be made in Raymond’s name to Little Victories Animal Rescue in Ona, WV. COVID restrictions require masks and social distancing.  The funeral home does not provide masks.  Condolences to the family may be made at www.harrison-pyles.com.
