James David Burchett Jr.

James David Burchett Jr. 48, of West Union, passed away unexpectedly on April 3rd, 2026. He was born on November 8th, 1977, in Portsmouth, OH, a son of the late James Sr. and Carol Burchett. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Cecil Obie Newman; grandparents David and Edith Burchett and Earl and Virgie Evans along with uncles, Earl Evans Jr., Bill Burchett, Garnal Burchett and John Burchett; aunts Ellen Gomer, Thelma Burchett, Opal Greenwood and Jeanette Jaworoswski.

He is survived by his wife, Jessica Hall Burchett; the kids that he raised as his own, Harley (JC) Slusher, Dustin Byrd, Rochelle (Jade) Hall, Shannae Hall (Jole Lewis); mother-in-law Gail Taylor and father-in-law Cliff; brothers, Harlon (Melissa) Burchett and Michael (Rikki) Burchett; brother-in-law Bruce (LaRhonda) Hall; uncles, Rodney (Pam) Evans and Charlie Evans. His grandkids Gauge, Jason, Liam, Haley and Avalon; nephew David (Ariel) and a great nephew Dawson along with many cousins.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday April 7, 2026, at D.W. SWICK & SON FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES in Sciotoville, with Donnie Evans officiating. He will be laid to rest at Owl Creek Cemetery with his dad. Visitation will be 12:00 to 1:00 PM Tuesday prior to services.
