Julia May “Judy” Gillette Delong

Julia May “Judy” Gillette Delong. 87, of Lucasville, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at Southern Ohio Medical Center.

She was born May 16, 1937 in McDermott, a daughter of the late Obel and Donna Gillette . Judy was the owner of Delong’s pizza for 18 years. She was a lifelong member of community of Christ church. Throughout her life, Judy enjoyed going to church cooking Sunday dinners for her family and traveling. She taught her family that the most important thing in life was loving and being there for one another. Judy helped her family in every way that she could. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but we can all take comfort in knowing that she is in the loving care of our Savior, and that one day we will be reunited with her.

In addition to her parents, Judy was proceeded in death by her loving husband, Bernard Lee Delong, on December 20, 2000; her siblings, Bill Gillette, Evert Gillette, Roma Lute, Peg Jewett, Betty Strickland, and Mary Giamporcaro; and one grandchild, Luke Hiett.

She is survived by eight children, Michael (Patty) Blevins, Ronnie (Bev) Blevins, Pam (Chuck) Hiett, Julie (Dave) Shultz, Joey (Angie) Delong, Karen Delong, Eric DeLong, and Brad Delong; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; her siblings, Mick (Brenda) Gillette, Frank (Jeanie) Gillette, Sandy (Maxwell) Fugate, and Donna (Frank) Rose; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Pleasant Valley Community of Christ, with Phil Crabtree and Daron Lilly officiating. Burial will follow in Cooper Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, February 17, 2025 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville and an hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday.
