William E. “Bill” Hamilton

William E. “Bill” Hamilton, 77, of Lucasville, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Southern Ohio Medical Center.

He was born October 16, 1947 in Jennings County, Indiana, a son of the late Charles and Vivian Stevens Hamilton. Bill obtained his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science & Accounting from Sperencin Business College. He taught 15 years at Shawnee State University for Business and Engineering Technologies departments, and later taught continuing education at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility and at the former atomic plant in Piketon. Bill also served four years in the Army Security Agency during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Shellie; two brothers, Jerry Hamilton and Verlin Stephens; and three sisters Mary Carder, Barbara Grasch, and Dorothy Hamilton.

Bill is survived by his wife, Virginia Mae Campbell Hamilton, who he married on December 27, 1974, in Muncie, Indiana. They shared nearly 50 years together. He is also survived by a brother, Danny Hamilton, of Seymour, Indiana; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles & Jenny Campbell of Muncie, Indiana; three nieces, four nephews, 14 grand nieces and nephews; and close family friends, Brenda Bays of Wheelersburg, Matthew Reed of Lucasville, and Rosa Barnes of Lucasville.

Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at the McKinley Funeral Home, with Daron Lilly officiating. Burial will follow in Lucasville Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by the William Baker and James Irwin posts of the American Legion. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, December 16, at the funeral home.
