Rev. Philip “Phip” Carver
Rev. Philip “Phip” Carver, 90, of Lucasville, passed away Monday, December 2, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born May 31, 1934 on Duck Run in McDermott, a son of the late John and Lenora Bond Carver. Philip was a 50-year member of Lucasville Lodge #465. He retired with 39 years of employment from General Motors as a steam engineer in Dayton, Ohio. But his passion in life was winning souls for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He humbly served as a Baptist Minister for six decades in both Dayton and the Scioto County area. He retired from ministry at the God and Country Church in Lucasville.
In addition to his parents, Philip was preceded in death by a son, Philip “Randy” Carver; a great-grandchild, Samuel Harding Ralls; and four siblings, Georgia Buckner, Florence Hunt, Lawrence and Dick Carver.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie Tackett Carver, who he married in Feb of 1955; two sons, Barry (Sue) Carver of Nashville, TN, and Harold Shawn Carver of Lucasville; a daughter, Diana Robin Carver of Chillicothe; 11 grandchildren, Philip R Carver II, Brandi Brewer Strayhorn, Brandon Combs, Crystal Haskins, Lindsey Bell, James Cody Canterbury, Nicole Carver-Ralls, Brooke Martindale, Zac Carver, Kerrigan Carver, Kendall Carver. 21 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; a brother, Jim Carver of Bethel, OH; a special friend and family member, Betty Tackett; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, December 6, 2024 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville, with Joe Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Luckett-Keller Cemetery. Friends may call for an hour before the services.
