Harold David “Dave” Diehlmann
Harold David “Dave” Diehlmann, 75, of McDermott, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024, at his residence.
He was born September 11, 1948 in Portsmouth, a son of Janice Spradlin Diehlmann of Waverly and the late Elmer Diehlmann. Dave was a 1966 Northwest high school graduate and was a United States Air Force veteran. He worked as an electrician at the former USEC in Piketon, with 42 years of service.
Dave was preceded in death by his father, an infant brother James Diehlmann, and a sister-in-law, Sherry Diehlmann.
In addition to his mother, Dave is survived by his wife and love of his life, Karen Riley Diehlmann, who he married on January 10, 1976 in Rarden; his daughter, Jennifer (Craig) Johnson of McDermott; his grandchildren, Tyler Mitchell, Rylee Johnson, and Kylee Johnson of which he adored; his brother, Dan (Nel) Diehlmann of Waverly; his sisters, Carolyn Markis of Wellfleet, Massachusetts, Marilyn (Chris) Lute of Stout, and Jani Campbell (Larry Sheets) of McDermott; and many adoring nieces and nephews.
He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Dave loved gardening, building, mechanics, and tinkering, and he took great pride in the work he did on the family farm which had been in the family for over a century.

Services for Dave will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, July 22, 2024 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville, with Tom Brown and Mark Baer officiating. Burial will follow in Garvin Cemetery, where military graveside rites will be performed by the William Baker and James Irwin posts of the American Legion. Friends may call from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home and an hour before the service on Monday.
