Kay Marie Whitaker

Kay Marie Whitaker, 87, of Rocky Fork Road in Otway, Ohio passed away Sunday, April 28, 2024 at her home.  She was born April 15, 1937 in Chillicothe, Ohio to the late Emmitt and Pearl Goodman.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son and two sisters.  Surviving are one daughter and one son, Mark and Marcia.  They adopted their two grandchildren, Keith Jr. and Matthew when they were very young.

Kay spent her early years as a laboratory technician, and her later years as an office manager for a life insurance company.  Cecil and Kay took in a Vietnamese family of six in the 1970’s who lived with them for six months.  In 1991 they moved to Rocky Fork Road onto land that is just down the hill from where her mother grew up.  There they took care of their two parents who had Alzheimer’s disease.  She was an active member of Berea Chapel Church and became a circuit rider when the need arose.  She enjoyed visiting people, helping whenever she could and working in her flowers and the garden.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2024 at Berea Chapel Church, 934 Rocky Fork Rd. Otway, Ohio with Ron Marcum officiating.  Burial will follow in Berea Chapel Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, May1 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Otway.
