After retirement, Bill and Betty moved to the mountains near Boone, NC, and later to Bristol Village in Waverly, Ohio where they enjoyed many amazing trips together. As the main accompanist at Bristol Village, Betty was known as ‘the piano lady’. She was also affectionately dubbed ‘Queen Elizabeth’ for her enthusiastic participation in all stage productions. She was a voracious reader, a competitive Scrabble player, and was recognized by President Obama for her volunteerism. She kept up with current events, had strong opinions, a good sense of humor, and never met a stranger. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Shotwell, and by her husband, Bill. She is survived by her three daughters, Mary Prentis Jones (former son-in-law, Abe Jones), Susan Lynn Hartwig (Ann Burkhart), and Lesa Anne Williams (Dylan Williams). Others who will miss her dearly are her four grandchildren (Carly and Elisabeth Jones, Maxwell and Dashiell Williams), a great-grandson (Ellis Jones-Barstow), as well as three nieces and a nephew.
