Janet May Giles

Janet May Giles, 78, of Portsmouth is finally pain free April 12, 2024. She was born February 21, 1946, in Roswell, New Mexico, to Lt. Col. Frank J. and Vivian (Rhodes) Krones, USAF Retired.

She graduated high school in 1964 at Davenport, Washington, then she graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Shawnee State in 1983.  Her favorite job was selling tickets at Scioto Breeze Drive-in Movie in Lucasville.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald R. Krones, of Davenport, WA, her son Matthew Ryan Schardt, of Blue Creek, Ohio and her husband, Louis “Sid” Giles, of Portsmouth.  She is survived by her grandson, Thomas Roger Oliver Young, and her step-son Robert E. Giles who lived with her.  Also surviving are her granddaughter and daughter, Christine Amy May and Sherri L. (Shaun) Young of Davenport, WA, and step-daughters, Teresa A. Giles of Columbus, Ohio and Lisa L. Ratcliff of Oklahoma.

She was an avid reader, it was cheaper than cable, so she made bookmarkers.  She also collected and made junk jewelry to remember her by.
