Ronald Eugene “Gene” Remy
Ronald Eugene “Gene” Remy, 83, of Waverly, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. On March 7, 1943 Gene was born in Beaver to the late Lesley Remy and Anna Kathryn Scheutle Remy. On September 22, 1963 he was united in marriage to Carolyn Scowden Remy who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Todd (Michelle) Remy of Castle Rock, Colorado and Jason (Karen) Remy of Walhonding, Ohio; grandchildren, Hunter (Kelsey Alley) Remy, Ryan (Rachel) Remy, Sydney (Brycen) Lynn and Brenna Remy; great granddaughter, Amelia Lynn; and sister-in-law: Linda Remy of Waverly. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by brother, Gerald Wayne Remy and brother and sister-in-law, John and Carol Remy.
Gene served his country in the U.S. Army and retired from the Defense Construction Supply Center in Columbus. He always showed up for everyone and would drop everything to help someone. Throughout his life you could find him driving down to Florida in his old red Chevy to enjoy the warmth and a good western in his recliner. He never missed his grandkid’s events, a round of golf, the bowling league and the county or state fair where he enjoyed the carnie life. When you called him and asked what he was doing he’d reply, “Just pilfering,” and then you’d find yourself lost in a meaningful conversation. To know him was to love him and boy was he loved.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, 2026 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly, Ohio. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery in Piketon. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
