David Lee Fields

David Lee Fields, age 77, of Wheelersburg, passed away on May 16, 2026, at SOMC following a brief illness.

David was born January 19, 1949, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late Granville and Evelyn (Morris) Fields. He was the beloved husband of Lois Walburn Fields. A proud United States Marine, he honorably served two tours in Vietnam. He later retired as a pipefitter with Local 577 after many years of dedicated work.

David found great joy in fishing, especially sauger fishing at Greenup Dam. He loved sharing his knowledge of fishing, life, and God’s love with others, mentoring many along the way. Anyone who knew David knew he never lacked for words, and his unwavering love for God and for truth guided every aspect of his life. One of his favorite passages of scripture was from Genesis 1:1 through Revelation 22:2.

In addition to his wife, David is survived by his children, Kristi Howard (Jeff Bowles), Beth Combow, and Laurie Blair (Rob Baker); grandchildren, Brent Martin, Mackenzie Beardall (Matt), Noah Combow (Mattie), Madison Carver, Hannah Baker, Eli Baker, and Ava Baker; and great-grandchildren, Kaden Kelly and Banks Beardall.

He is also survived by his siblings, Edith Clagg, Alfred David Stewart, Rita Loschiavo, Gary Fields, and Anita Hopper, as well as a very special cousin, Bill Fields.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his grandson, JP Rewakowsky, and his brothers, Larry Fields and Danny Stewart.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at SOMC for their compassionate care and support. Special thanks are also extended to Remain at Home and Patriot Health Services for their kindness and assistance.

Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, May 22, 2026, 7:00 PM at D.W. Swick & Son Funeral and Cremation Services in Wheelersburg. A Gathering of family and friends will begin at 6:00 PM.
