Darrell L. Allen II

Darrell L. Allen II, 53, of Portsmouth, died Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at SOMC in Portsmouth. He was born June 27, 1972 in Portsmouth, to the late Darrell L. Allen and Pamela (Purtee) Allen of Portsmouth.  Darrell started his own business in 1998 as General Contractor, he was a licensed Electrician, who took great pride in his work, and was known as a hard worker. He loved the outdoors, being on the water and fishing, and loved to ride golf carts. Darrell was into music, he played the drums and was even in a few bands. Of all his hobbies, his favorite way to spend time was with his only grandchild, Hudson, whom he adored.

Darrell is survived by his mother, Pamela (Purtee) Allen and her companion, William Albrecht, who helped raise Darrell, a daughter, Kelsey Mader (Michael) of Portsmouth, three sisters, Darlene Allen of Waverly, Stephanie Allen of Portsmouth, and Lisa Penn of Waverly, three nieces, Morgan Kennedy (Kalene) of Blacklick, OH, Riley Penn of Waverly, and Brooklynn Penn of Waverly. He is also survived by his grandson, Hudson Mader, and a granddaughter on the way.

A visitation for friends and family will be on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 13 at 12:00 PM, with visitation starting an hour before the service.  Burial will follow at Scioto Burial Park in McDermott.
