Richard Alley

Richard Alley, 85, of Lucasville, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at SOMC Hospice.

 

He was born on March 9th, 1941 in Stockdale, Ohio, a son of the late Woodrow and Vealie Osborne Alley. Richard was a retired truck driver and railroad employee. Outside of his work life, Richard could be found on his farm in Wakefield, where he spent countless hours in the field with the cows, baling hay, and getting his Tennessee Walking Horses show ready and spending time with his family. He will be sorely missed by many.

 

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his baby sister Rose Alley, his sister Ruth Turner, his brother Russell “Hess” Alley, his brother-in-law Michael Jones, his sister-in-law Dreama Nolan, and his son-in-law Mark Hannah.

 

Richard leaves behind his wife Anita Jones Alley, whom he married January 31, 1964 in Lucasville; three daughters Vela Hannah, Angela Alley, and Stephanie (Bobby) Warnock; and his brother Redge (Eva) Alley. He also leaves behind five grandchildren Mark Hannah, Aryn Harris (Nathan VanKirk), Samantha Miller (Seth Tippie), Morgan Alley, and Dakota (Brittany) Harris; and five great grandchildren Alyssa Harris, Avery Lambert, Ottilie and Ira Dickerson, and Harrison VanKirk, and multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

The family would like to thank SOMC Hospice for caring for Richard during the last days of his life.

 

Friends may call from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm Monday, April 27, 2026 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville. Graveside will follow in Bailey Chapel Cemetery in Wakefield. The family asks for no donations of food in advance of the services, but cards and well-wishes are welcome.
