Barbara Ann Hicks

Barbara Ann Hicks, 69, of West Portsmouth, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2026 at her residence.

She was born February 1, 1956 in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Russell and Joanne Lindamood Smith. Barbara was a 1974 Valley High School graduate and a retired secretary from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. She was also the former postmistress of Friendship Post Office and a member of Pond Run Baptist Church.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Carl Wilson Hicks, whom she married on May 2, 1987 in Lexington, Kentucky; two sons, Michael Pitts of Portsmouth and Kyle (Tracy) Hicks of Lucasville; five grandchildren, Brooklyn, Zane, Gracie, Lainie, and Kyla; and two sisters, Peggy (Robert) Warren of Columbus, and Dr. Nancy Lee (Dr. Wallie) Guerrant of Winchester, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, January 22, 2026 at the McKinley Funeral Home, with Jim McCullough officiating. Burial will follow in Scioto Cemetery on Cockrell’s Run Road. Friends may call from 11:30 am until the services on Thursday at the funeral home.
