Joshua “Josh” David Nichols

Joshua “Josh” David Nichols, 49 of Otway, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025 at his residence.  He was born on August 21, 1976 in Portmouth to the late John Darrell Nichols, Sr and Dorothy Debo Nichols.  He is survived by his sister Sheri Nichols-Purtee of Otway, brother, John Nichols, Jr. of Otway, sister, Kristi Shepard of Otway and brother, Bryan Chandler of Piketon.  He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  In addition to his parents, Josh was preceded in death by his brother, James Nichols.

Josh was a 1994 graduate of Northwest High School and the Scioto County Joint Vocational School.  He was a former member of the Fox Hunters Club, APA Association and the Eagles.  He drove a dump truck for a few years until he quit to take care of his father.  He was single and had no children.  Josh had a lot of friends and wasn’t the least bit shy.  He enjoyed shooting pool and spending time with his family and friends.  He will be missed by many.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Otway.  Burial will follow in Nichols Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
