Lona Mae Miller

Lona Mae Miller, age 90, of Lucasville, passed away peacefully at Hill View Nursing Home in Portsmouth on Friday, October 10, 2025.

Lona was born March 24, 1935, in Garrison, Kentucky, to the late Cecil and Judy Mefford. She was a cherished mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was loved by all. She was a 1952 Valley High School graduate who attended New Hope Baptist Church. Lona worked at Bank One (Security Central) and Scioto County Joint Vocational School.

She married Carl D. Miller in Lucasville on July 17, 1954.  At the time of Carl’s death on February 1, 2015, they had been married for 60 years. Lona was also preceded in death by sisters Darlene Bobst and Wanda Brown.

Lona is survived by her sons, Randy (Loretta) Miller of New Holland and Rick (Becky) Miller of Lucasville; grandchildren, Amy (Toby) McBee, Adam (Abbie) Miller, Dan (Aleta) Miller, Alison (Sean) Rariden, Tyler Adams and Chelsea Adams; great-grandchildren, Brooke McBee, Hailey McBee, Connor McBee, Eli Roth and Armand Miller; sisters, Charlene Kapeller, Connie Lee, Patricia Mefford and Gail (Paul) Boyer;  brothers, Sherman (Sue) Mefford and Larry Mefford, along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville, with Dr. Joe Nelson officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Memorial Burial Park. Friends may call from 1:00 pm until the services at the funeral home.
