Michael Lucian Adkins

Michael Lucian Adkins, 75, of Portsmouth, passed away Friday, September 26, 2025, at SOMC Hospice.

He was born January 31, 1950 in Portsmouth, a son of the late Lucian and Jean Fields Adkins. Mike was a 1968 Valley High School graduate and was in the first graduating class from Shawnee State’s paramedic program. He was a Vietnam veteran who was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Mike was founder and operator of Portsmouth Ambulance, a member of the James Dickey Post American Legion and Cedar Street Church in New Boston.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lauren Mae Adkins.

He is survived by his wife, Trina Gregory Adkins, whom he married December 14, 1976 in Portsmouth; his children, Rachael (Brian) Estep of Portsmouth, and Michael (Ali) Adkins of Portsmouth; two grandsons, Jaxon and Mason Estep; and a brother, Tony (Rita) Adkins of Lucasville.

The family want to thank the staff of Portsmouth Ambulance for their commitment and friendship.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Scioto Burial Park, with Brad Angus officiating, and graveside military rites by the James Dickey Post #23, American Legion. Those planning to attend will meet at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville.
