Alan was of Methodist faith. He served as a Volunteer Fireman for 35 years at Porter Township, serving in various leadership positions. Anyone who met Alan found a kind and generous man. He was a gifted mechanic that many family, friends and neighbors depended on to fix stuff, as it was noted he could fix anything. He enjoyed local history, collecting antiques and was passionate about gas engines and tractors. Also, he enjoyed everything about railroads and Bluegrass music from time spent with his dad and son who shared the same hobbies. In his spare time, he could be found in his building surrounded by his “stuff” or at his son’s farm. He was quiet but known for his humor delivered in a quick one-liners when least expected. He will be missed by his loving family and many friends. In addition to his parents, Alan was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, John Mullins of Ironton. Alan is survived by his wife, Betsy Mullins Fannin, whom he married September 12, 1970 in Wheelersburg, OH.
