Pauline “Bethannie” Sperry

Pauline “Bethannie” Sperry. 89, descendant of Josiah Marcum and Garret Lowe, passed away Tuesday April 25, 2023 in Portsmouth, OH. She was born June 2, 1933 at Jennies Creek, Wayne County WV,  a daughter of the late Solomon Marcum Jr. and Virgie (Lowe) Marcum.

She was of the Pentecostal Faith who was very Christ centered and her faith was everything to her. She enjoyed genealogy, gardening and canning. She had a good sense of humor and was loved by everyone.

Bethannie is survived by four sons, William Eugene Sperry of South Webster, Franklin David Sperry of Wheelersburg, Homer Lee Sperry of  South Webster and Sylvester Paul Sperry of South Shore, KY; three daughters, Hazel Howard of Gallipolis, Billie Sperry of South Webster and Rosanna Heintzman and husband John of Fairborn; 16 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by her husband William Bryant Sperry a son, Kenneth Sperry, stepson, Robert Sperry; daughters, Minnie Lee and Rhoda Sperry; step-daughter, Brenda Sias; brothers, Luther Marcum, Frank Marcum, Sylvester Marcum, Homer Marcum and Paul Marcum; sisters, Flora Stafford, Pearlina Williamson, Faye Marcum, Mae Marcum, Bessie Robinson, Polly Marcum, Rosetta Chapman and Hilda Marcum.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday April 29, 2023 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in South Webster, OH with interment to follow at South Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 2 PM prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.
