Carol L. Horner
Carol L. Horner, 86, of Waverly formerly of South Webster passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Bristol Village in Waverly. She was born in South Webster on February 18, 1937 to the late Ralph and Zella (Cooper) Nutter. Carol was a 1955 graduate of South Webster High School and later attended Portsmouth Business College. She was a member of South Webster Baptist Church. Early in her life she worked at the Scioto County Auditor’s office in the Scioto County Courthouse then later, after her children were raised, she worked at CAO in Lawrence County. Carol loved gardening, sewing, and cooking.
Carol is survived by two sons, John Horner II and wife Debbie of Wheelersburg and Andrew Horner of South Webster; a daughter LeAnn Marquez and husband Mark of Waverly; a brother, Richard Nutter and wife Sherri of Oak Hill; two sisters, Lois Wilburn of Florida and Zella Slack of Scioto Furnace; six grandchildren, Megan, Kayla, Adrienne, Haley, Noah, and Gabriel; ten great-grandchildren, Mason, Memphis, Meadow, Savannah, Kaylee, Riiver, Anthony, Briiar, Paisley, and Gary. Carol was also preceded in death by her husband, John Horner; one granddaughter; and many brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in South Webster with Pastor Ronnie Rawlins officiating. Interment will follow at South Webster Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday, March 20, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and one hour before the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
