 Ada Kay Keeton

Ada Kay Keeton, 73, of Tallahassee, FL, a former Portsmouth resident, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2023, at her home. She was born April 2, 1949, in Puyallup, WA, a daughter of the late Willie Clarence and Sylvia (Skaggs) Skaggs.

Kay was a retired nurse practitioner, having received a BSN from Shawnee State University and an MSN-FNP from Southern Indiana University.

Her husband, Ralph Keeton, preceded her in death in 1993. The couple married in June 1967, in Wise, VA.

Surviving Kay are three daughters, Julianne K. (Marvin Folsom) Fountain of Tallahassee, FL, Pamela (Jerome) Heiker of St. Cloud, FL and Melissa (Mark) Hershey of Tollesboro, KY; two brothers, William (Rosemary) Skaggs of Portsmouth and Leslie (Pat) Skaggs of Minford; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Kay was also preceded in death by four siblings, Charles, Dewey and Willie Skaggs Jr. and Joan Crabtree.

Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Sunday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Dennis Dawes, Minister, officiating and interment in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 5 to 7 P.M. and one hour prior to services Sunday.
