Willard Clifford “Bill” Stapleton Jr.

Willard Clifford “Bill” Stapleton Jr., 72, of McDermott, passed away Friday, December 16, 2022 at Southern Ohio Medical Center.

He was born March 5, 1950 in Ironton, a son of the late Willard Clifford and Elizabeth Bailey Stapleton Sr.

Bill was a retired Rural Mail Carrier for the United States Postal Service with 38 years of service, a former 4-H leader, and of the Baptist Faith. He was a 1968 Ironton High School graduate and obtained his Bachelor of Science in Business from Marshall University.

He is survived by his wife, Claudia Murphy Stapleton whom he married December 22, 1972 in Portsmouth; two daughters, Crystal (Chris) Beacom of Hilliard and Colleen (Surya) Pamulapati of West Chester, OH; two grandchildren who were the light of his life, Sarada and Surya; two brothers, Mark Stapleton of Ironton and John (Michelle) Stapleton of Killeen, TX; one sister, Linda (Clayton) Sander of Grand Forks, ND; brothers and sisters in law who were like his family; and several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon, Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville with Elder Barbara Koch officiating. Burial will follow in Rushtown Cemetery. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and an hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
