Wilma Jean Burns

Wilma Jean Burns, 83, passed into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY. She was born to the late Tom Winchell and Mildred Lee (Wilkins) Moon on January 24, 1938 in Capels, WV.

Wilma had worked as a WIC Aide for Community Action Organization and volunteered in the CAO Foster Grandparent Program. She was a member and Church Mother at Kingdom Builders Evangelistic Ministries and a graduate of Kimball (WV) High School.

Surviving are her four children, Darryl Lisath of Minford, Shawna (William) Torres of Mamaroneck, NY, Lisa (Kevin) Newton of Powder Springs, GA, Mia Harris of Portsmouth and Kendra Lisath of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Shirley (Ronald) Quinn and Anita Moon-Fernandes of Yonkers, NY; ten grandchildren, Suree Burns, Danielle Torres, Jeigha Lisath, Justin Torres, T.J. Harris, Marcus Lisath, A’set Gentry, Yani White, Alexus Lisath, Miauna Rhea; and 13 great-grandchildren

In addition to her parents, Wilma was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Ellen Dessessaure; and a grandson, Cameron Christopher Gentry.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, November 19th  at Christ’s Community Church with Bishop-Elect David Malone officiating and Randy Lewis as Master of Ceremonies.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth and from 10 to 11 A.M. Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kingdom Builders Evangelistic Ministries, 1629 Waller St., Portsmouth, OH 45662.
