Kentucky State Police Investigates Officer Involved Shooting

Ashland, KY (November 4, 2021) – On November 3, 2021 the Kentucky State Police was requested by the Boyd County Sheriffs Department to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred at approximately 9:15 PM EST in Boyd County.

At the request of the Boyd County Sheriff’s Department, Kentucky State Police, Ashland Post 14 arrived on scene and the investigation into the incident remains ongoing. A male suspect was transported by Boyd County EMS to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, WV for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

No officers or others members of the community were injured during this incident.

KSP has statewide jurisdiction and investigates officer-involved shootings throughout the commonwealth as requested by local law enforcement agencies. KSP is committed to being transparent while ensuring the integrity of the investigation. To protect the integrity of an ongoing investigation, it is KSP standard operating procedure not to release specific details until vital witnesses have been interviewed and pertinent facts gathered.  Timelines to complete investigations vary based on the complexity of the case.
