Important Election Day Announcement.
It has been the past practice for candidates and spectators to congregate within the rotunda of the Scioto County Courthouse to watch as the election results are reported. In order to comply with the Director’s Order issued by Amy Acton, Director of the Ohio Department of Health (ODH), in conjunction with the Governor of Ohio, Mike DeWine, limiting and/or prohibiting mass gatherings in the State of Ohio, the Scioto County Board of Commissioners, Scioto County Courthouse Security and the Scioto County Board of Elections have determined that it is necessary to limit the Election Day activities conducted within the Scioto County Courthouse. On Tuesday, March, 17, 2020 the Scioto County Courthouse will operate in accordance with the following policies:
-The Scioto County Courthouse will be open to the public until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
-The Scioto County Board of Elections will be open for citizens to cast provisional ballots until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
-The election results will be displayed on a projector screen in the Courthouse Rotunda. Only the candidate and one designee shall be permitted to enter and/or remain inside the courthouse to watch the Election Day results. Candidates are required to contact Shawn Davis, Head of Security, on or before Monday, March 16, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. to provide the name of the candidate and designee that will be in attendance to watch the election result at the Courthouse on Tuesday, March 17, 2020. The candidate and one designee are required to report to the Scioto County Courthouse public entrance no later than 7:30 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, March 17, 2020. -All media shall be permitted to be present at the Courthouse on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 to watch the Election Day results. Media personnel are asked to enter the courthouse on or before 7:30 p.m. on March 17, 2020 and present their credentials to security upon entering the Courthouse.
-The election results will be streamed LIVE on the Scioto County Commissioners’ Facebook page as they are reported by the Scioto County Board of Elections. This will allow for more people than ever to see the results in real time!
-The election results will also be reported every thirty (30) minutes by the Scioto County Board of Elections to the Ohio Secretary of State and will be published on the Ohio Secretary of State’s website at www.sos.state.oh.us.
