Deadline approaching for purchase of 2020 Dog and Kennel Licenses
Scioto County Auditor David L. Green wishes to remind the public that the deadline to purchase 2020 Dog and Kennel Licenses is Friday, January 31.
The fee is $12.00 per dog for an Annual License, $36.00 per dog for a Three-Year License, and 120.00 per dog for a permanent license. Annual Kennel Licenses are available to qualifying applicants for a fee of $60.00.
Licenses purchased after the January 31 deadline, except for Licenses for newly acquired dogs, will be subject to a $12.00 penalty for each Dog License and a $60.00 penalty for each Kennel License in addition to the regular license fee.
Scioto County residents may purchase Dog Licenses through our Online Dog Licensing System by visiting www.doglicenses.us/OH/Scioto. A Small processing fee applies to online orders and is retained by the software vendor. Dog owners may also visit the website and print an application to complete and mail to the Auditor’s office along with a check or money order for the license fee.
Licenses may also be purchased in person at the Scioto County Auditor’s Office, located on the first floor of the Scioto County Courthouse at 602 7th Street, Room 103, Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Additionally Annual Dog Licenses may be purchased at the County Dog Pound, located just off U.S. 23 at 95N. Arrowhead Dr., Portsmouth, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Three Year Licenses, Permanent Licenses, and Kennel Licenses are not available for purchase at the Dog Pound.
Mr. Green wishes to remind residents that all dogs in Scioto County are required to be licensed, including housedogs, and dogs that are tied up on a lease or kept in a pen. Unregistered dogs may be impounded by the Scioto County Dog Pound in accordance with Ohio law.
