The Porter Township Trustees voted to purchase a new EMS Vehicle, tractor, and mower attachment during Tuesday afternoon’s meeting.
A 2019 F-450 EMS vehicle was purchased from Horton Vehicle Company in the amount of $234,565. It is estimated the vehicle will take 6-8 months to build and be shipped to the EMS department.
A 2019 John Deere Tractor was purchased for $63,780.64. A 22 foot mower was also purchased in the amount of $57,564.80. Both purchased came from the Road and Bridge fund.
The trustees also entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Scioto County Commissioners and Scioto County Engineer Darren LeBrun to undergo a joint paving project in the township during 2019. “This will save us money, working together,” promised Trustee Dennis DeCamp.
The trustees approved a $20,000 grant for the fire department during the meeting. The grant will help pay for new radio equipment that will allow for better communication between local departments. “This will allow us to have much better communication,” said Fire Chief Dean Hoover. “We will be joining a nationwide network and it will really help us communicate with other departments.”
A public meeting is to be held Thursday, February 28th at 5PM at the township building. The purpose of the meeting is for Engineer LeBrun to discuss the planned changes for the Dogwood Ridge/Lick Run Road intersection. All residents are encouraged to attend.
The next Porter Township Trustee meeting will be held on Monday, March 1st at 4:30PM.
