Portsmouth Christmas Parade rescheduled for December 15th

The 80thAnnual Jaycees Christmas Parade is rescheduled for Saturday, December 15that 5PM. The original parade was canceled because of poor weather conditions.
Line up for the parade starts at 4PM at Portsmouth High School. The parade route will run from Gallia Street by Portsmouth High School all the way to Market Street. There, organizers and parade goers will be invited to attend Winterfest (located at Market Square) and participate in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most people Christmas caroling at one time. Winterfest will also feature vendors, an ice skating rink, huge light displays, horse and buggy rides, and more winter activities.
Organizer Leroy Hackworth invites all community organizations, businesses, church groups, non profits, and bands to join the parade. Contact him at 740-464-1126 for more information. He does ask that all who can bring a monetary or toy donation for the 29thannual Jaycees Christmas Basket Project. The project aims to help disadvantaged children and their families with Christmas gifts and a hot meal for the holidays. Jaycees is also offering a gourmet apple fundraiser. Now through December 15th, they are offering two different styles of apples for $10: a caramel apple dipped in white chocolate and coated in crushed peppermint, and a caramel apple dipped in chocolate and peanuts and drizzled in dark chocolate. All apples will be beautifully packaged and available for pickup between December 17thand 21st.
